NextGen Newsletter - July 2021
NextGen is a 20+ year old community supporting each new generation of venture capital talent.
Hey everyone, hope everyone’s having a great July! Thanks to all the folks who joined us for our NYC happy hour - our first in more than a year! We ended up with a guestlist that was 4X overcapacity for the venue, but we made it work and had a great night :)
First big update - if you’d like to join our NextGen community and collab live, please consider joining our NextGen Mighty Network! Our board member Alessio runs this community and will be sharing more info on this in the coming weeks.
Second - we have some data to share from our Return to Work survey. The sample size is modest (n=31), but here are the highlights. If you’d like to add to the data set, please take the survey here.
61% of respondents have remotely worked as a digital nomad in the last 12 months (most popular cities to have worked out of are NYC, LA, and Miami)
19% of respondents have permanently moved away from the city they were living in at the start of the pandemic (no single destination stands out as most popular)
90% of respondents prefer a hybrid work set up, but only 77% of respondents say their firms will support this
48% of respondents say their firms are requiring them to return to the office for IRL work in some form (either all IRL or hybrid)
We hope everyone is adjusting well to post-pandemic work reality, and we hope to catch up with y’all during the summer. Read on for updates on big promotion moves for a few members of our community, an SF happy hour event set for September 9, and a ton of new role openings!
Last but certainly not least, we’d love to hear from y’all if you have awesome people in venture you’d like to give kudos to. Please fill out our Member Spotlight here!
Thanks,
Shawn and the NextGen Board
